Our Goals

  • 10,000 Singapore HeForShe commitments.
  • To support the global initiative to mobilise one billion men in GE initiatives.
  • To mobilise corporations, government/non governmental agencies and educational institutions to become Singapore’s Impact Champions for gender equality.

How are we going to do it?

  • Raise the profile of HeForShe amoungst the general public through various events and campaigns such as the HeForShe Impact Awards and the HeForShe Impact Awards Luncheon
  • We’re looking for organisations that wish to become Singapore Impact Champions to pledge to make gender equality an institutional priority, committing to real change within and beyond each of their organisations. We will work with these organisations throughout the year so assist them with reaching their goals.
  • We conducted a survey to assess attitudes about gender equality and feminism in Singapore. We’ll be releasing the results soon!.

The HeForShe Impact Awards Luncheon 2016

Singapore Committee for UN Women celebrated HeForShe and International Women’s Day with a classic luncheon event, on Wednesday 27th of April 2016 at One Farrer Hotel & Spa, from 12:30 to 14:30.

This was an exclusive event which celebrated International Women’s Day with us, and to join us in awarding companies, organisations, men and women in Singapore who promote gender equality through initiatives that they have championed, inspiring steps that they have taken and everyday actions resulting in positive change for the community.

Table and seat purchases were integral in making a meaningful contribution to Singapore Committee for UN Women’s local initiatives for 2016.

Be an everyday hero

Check out our 15 top tips to get you started on your HeForShe journey here.

Become an Impact Champion (10x10x10)

Following the global IMPACT 10x10x10 initiative, Singapore Committee for UN Women aims to engage key decision makers at corporations, government/non governmental bodies and educational institutions to drive change from the top down. These impact champions will make gender equality an institutional priority, committing to real change within and beyond each of their organisations.

The ten organisations from each sector will be announced at the inaugural HeForShe Awards. Each Impact Champion will be asked to present a total of three pledges that they aim to implement by March 2017. These pledges will be set independently by each organisation and must be quantifiably measured. The thirty organisations will regroup in March to update the community on the results of their efforts towards gender equality, inspire the next generation of champions and share ideas for future years.

Be the change

There are many more ways to get involved in the campaign. Singapore Committee for UN Women invites you to partner with us. Together we will spread awareness and spark action on the responsibility that men and boys have in eliminating all forms of discrimination against women and violence against women and girls - develop sustainable programs for the full participation of men and boys in support of gender equality.
