2 Oct 2015 (Fri) - 30 Oct 2015 (Fri) | Opening Preview - Friday Oct 2, 7 pm to 9 pm
Volvo Art Loft

249 Alexandra Road, Singapore 159935

The exhibition is an artistic collaboration of two diverse artists based in Singapore - Alpana Vij (India) and Susanne Paulli (Denmark). Their striking contemporary works range from figurative to abstract art. Though the themes and painting styles the two artists explore are varied, what brings them together is a shared interest in expressing their inner selves through their works. The defining thread that runs through their art is its intuitive nature - the use of colour, line and texture to give form to fleeting feelings and emotions.

100% of the proceeds from the auction of two specifically created collaborative works will be donated to Singapore Committee for UN Women.

2 One North Gateway

Singapore 138502 (ESSEC Asia-Pacific)

Singapore Committee for UN Women, in partnership with ESSEC Asia Pacific is holding a film screening and discussion of 'Awakening - Empowering Women Through Microloans'. Awakening documents the social and economic empowerment of women in Afghanistan and India whose roles have traditionally been restricted by their cultures. Awakened to new possibilities through education and access to micro-loans these women are redefining their roles. In Bihar, India's poorest state, Sister Mary Lobo organizes village women into groups where they learn to save small sums and invest their capital as a group. In Afghanistan, the nation's first woman-led micro-finance institution believes the nation's long-term success is dependent on women's economic freedom. Join us for a discussion about the societal benefits of investing in women and empowering women.
